Key responsibilities
Your assignment includes teaching tasks within LUCA Music & Drama bachelor’s programs and the LUCA Graduate master’s programs. These are mainly situated within the music pedagogy program, the drama program and the educational master’s program in music and performing arts (campus Lemmens, Leuven).
You will teach piano and practical harmony, primarily to music pedagogy students. You will also be available as a piano accompanist. Depending on your profile, you may eventually take on other teaching duties within the music education programs.
The assignment is broader than teaching, supervising and evaluating students. Together with colleagues, you develop teaching and learning activities, tailored to the student audience and within the context of the curriculum and the profile of the program. You also actively contribute to the quality of the program, and you are an ambassador for LUCA with regard to prospective students and alumni.

Profile
As an educator, you have extensive experience with piano instruction, both individually and collectively, with a variety of target groups and in a variety of learning contexts.
You have extensive experience as a piano teacher and practical harmony/accompaniment teacher, and as a piano accompanist.
You are open-minded and have a feel for and experience with a wide variety of musical styles.
You have a vision on the use of the piano in educational contexts and on the instrumental training of future music educators.
You have a wealth of tips and tricks to quickly and efficiently teach students basic skills.
You are familiar with general teaching frameworks and developments related to the field of music and specifically instrumental performance.
You are strongly committed to further professional development and are familiar with evidence-based teaching strategies.
You have artistic-educational (performing) experience.
Experience in higher arts education is preferred.
You hold a master's degree and a certificate of pedagogical competence.

In the context of the expertise network Artistic Practices, to be appointed within the team Music Performance (Leuven), LUCA is looking for a skilled and flexible piano accompanist for the Music Performance team to support students in their artistic development and assist them during classes, rehearsals, and exams. The accompanist will contribute to a stimulating learning environment, work closely with colleagues and students, and be involved in ensemble projects.

Your assignment includes tasks within LUCA Music & Drama and LUCA Graduate. These are mainly situated within the Music programme (Leuven campus).
The primary responsibility will be to accompany students at the piano within the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in Music during lessons, master classes, rehearsals, internal auditions, examinations, and concerts, mainly within the instrumental and vocal departments, with a primary focus on classical music.
You support students in the preparation of repertoire for lessons, examinations, auditions, competitions, recordings, and public performances. You will collaborate closely with professors and students in ensemble settings and contribute to artistic projects, project weeks, and concerts organized by the department.

Key responsibilities
Your assignment includes teaching tasks within LUCA Audiovisual Arts & Media. These are mainly situated within the Film, TV, Video programme (Vorst campus, Narafi).
Within the educational setting, you provide practice-oriented courses focusing on non-fiction, reporting, and documentary television practice. You guide students through the entire production process: from research and concept development to filming, directing, and editing.
The focus is on developing strong technical, storytelling, and production skills and applying them in realistic field situations and collaborations with external partners. You introduce current professional workflows, such as working in small teams or as a one-person crew, and guide students in making content choices within various non-fiction formats (reporting, documentary, human interest).
The assignment is broader than teaching, supervising and evaluating students. Together with colleagues, you develop teaching and learning activities, tailored to the student audience and within the context of the curriculum and the profile of the program. Key responsibilities
You will teach within the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Music, ensuring continuity through weekly contact sessions, rehearsals, and leadership of artistic projects. The position is grounded in an active artistic practice as a choir conductor. As a principal subject teacher in choir conducting, you guide students in their development into engaged and ambitious choir directors for non-professional and professional groups. In your lessons, you inspire students’ mastery as a choir conductor by sharing advanced perspectives on conducting technique, rehearsal methodology, musical leadership, and artistic interpretation within a choral context.
You guide students in score study, rehearsal techniques, stylistic awareness, and the interpretation of a broad choral repertoire. Particular attention is given to the development of students’ communication skills, musical leadership, and collaboration with singers, instrumentalists, and other conductors.
You will work with the institution’s vocal ensembles and choirs, fostering the artistic and professional development of students and guiding them in functioning within choral and ensemble settings. Responsibilities include preparing and leading rehearsals, conducting concerts, and contributing to artistic productions and projects organized by the department.
You are expected to support students in developing the pedagogical, didactic, and leadership skills required to work with amateur choirs, youth choirs, and educational contexts.
Depending on the number of choir projects and choir conducting students, you may also contribute to teaching vocal subjects, such as ear training or voice.

You take responsibility within the conducting department.
