LUCA School of Arts is a member of the KU Leuven Association.
We believe that art and design have an impact on society and the world in many ways. Respect and integrity are our guiding principles, diversity and sustainability are our assets, and quality is our driving force.
We are currently working on the role of LUCA as an actor in society, on opening up our multi-campus reality to a network, on the evolution of the five original training institutes into a joint laboratory, and on responding to training and research questions from the outside world.
The Arts & Society expertise network at LUCA School of Arts offers a position for a candidate interested in a doctoral research in the arts, embedded in the music therapy expertise team.
PROJECT
There is a growing recognition of the importance of a systemic approach in child and adolescent psychiatry. In this light, the involvement of parents and/or caregivers is increasingly integrated within child-centered treatment models. The way in which parents/caregivers can be actively involved within the interactive functioning of music therapy and the specific impact of this on the treatment and development of the child, is still insufficiently understood, especially within child and adolescent psychiatry.
Under the supervision of prof. dr. Katrien Foubert you will undertake a music therapy oriented research project in which you investigate how systemic principles can be applied in music therapy with children/adolescents. The aim is to gain a better methodological understanding of parental involvement in music therapy within child and adolescent psychiatry, and its impact on musical interactions, the music therapy process and the development of the child.
In addition, your assignment also includes a 10% teaching assignment . This consists of a teaching assignment embedded within the music therapy program, but may also include administrative, support, and organizational tasks within education.
Your appointment as a researcher can only start once your PhD proposal is approved by the doctoral committee in the arts (LUCA - KU Leuven).
