LUCA School of Arts
Location: Leuven, Campus Lemmens
LUCA School of Arts is a creative hub for almost 5,000 people: more than 4,000 students and 800 colleagues. LUCA offers them an educational and research environment to further develop their creative talent. We do this through higher education courses in the broad domain of the arts, and through artistic research, embedded within an associated Faculty of Arts at KU Leuven. LUCA has campuses in four cities: Ghent, Brussels, Leuven and Genk. LUCA School of Arts is a member of the KU Leuven Association and the European University Alliance FilmEU.
The expertise network Artistic Practices at LUCA School of Arts offers a position for a candidate interested in a teaching assignment in the arts, embedded within the expertise team Music Performance.
The proposed start date is 01/11/2026.
Key Responsibilities
As a guest lecturer (assistant) Flute, you teach within the Music Performance programme and support the main flute teacher in the pedagogical and organizational development of the flute class. You provide individual instrumental and technical flute lessons, adapted to the learning objectives and individual needs of the students, and contribute to their musical, artistic and professional development.
The workload of the position is linked to the high number of students in the main teacher’s class and is intended to provide additional teaching capacity; it is not a position aimed at building or developing an independent student class.
In addition, you provide audition training, including the preparation of orchestral excerpts and coaching students for orchestral auditions.
You actively collaborate with the main teacher and other docents, contribute to a positive and stimulating learning environment, and participate in team meetings and activities related to the further development of the programme.

You provide instrumental and technical guitar lessons, adapted to the learning objectives and individual needs of the students, and contribute to their musical, artistic and professional development. You also provide training in sight-reading (leestechniek) to further develop students’ reading skills and musical fluency.
The workload of the position is linked to the high number of students in the main teacher’s class and is intended to provide additional teaching capacity; it is not a position aimed at building or developing an independent student class.
In addition, you support the organization and preparation of try-out sessions, student concerts and other activities related to the guitar class. You actively collaborate with the main teacher and other docents, contribute to a positive and stimulating learning environment, and participate in team meetings and activities related to the further development of the programme.

As a Guest Lecturer main subject Piano, you teach within the Music Performance programme. You develop and deliver inspiring classes aligned with the learning objectives of the programme. In addition, you supervise students in their projects, bachelor papers, master thesis, assignments and contribute to their professional and artistic development. You help foster a positive dynamic within your class and actively engage in collegial collaboration with other lecturers. Finally, you participate in team meetings and provide input for the further development of the curriculum.
