The research unit Intermedia from LUCA School of Arts, Campus Sint-Lukas Brussels, offers one funded full-time Post-doctoral position, situated within the domain of audiovisual arts.
PROJECT
The research unit Intermedia expresses his interest in and sees a lot of potential in a long list of research topics that span from technological issues (AR, VR, and the use of AI), over research into nonlinear narratives, transmedia storytelling, interactive documentary practices, collaborative film practice, but also topics on creation of or representation of cultural identity and environmental issues. With a long history of transmedia research, and a vivid research cluster in the field of expanded photography, we expect this Postdoc researcher, in collaboration with a senior researcher as supervisor, to also develop a strong line of research in the field of audiovisual arts.
The objective of this Post-Doctoral position is therefore not only to disseminate previous research but also develop research collectives, develop connections with international research networks and look for European research funding.
We expect the candidates to submit (4) a summary of their Phd (250 word) and (3) a short (one page) research proposal that demonstrates knowledge of the field and focus for a specific project to be implemented over the next 3 years.

We offer a temporary, fixed-term appointment (100%) in the vacant position of Postdoctoral Researcher (scale 509) at LUCA School of Arts/KULeuven for three years. A later moment is negotiable, but the appointment can be no later than July 2025.
Candidates are the holder of PhD in the Arts, before the application deadline of this position. Assignment
The Music & Drama research unit of LUCA School of Arts, Lemmens campus, offers a three-year part-time (70%) postdoctoral position, for candidates interested in artistic-educational research, embedded in the music education research cluster.
As a doctoral assistant, you carry out 50% of the postdoctoral research project. Your project relates to at least one, preferably several, of the research lines of the music education research cluster:
In addition to setting up and carrying out your own research project, you contribute to the development of an inspiring and active research culture within the Music & Drama research unit. On the one hand, by coordinating research seminars and workshops for the researchers of the music education research cluster, and on the other hand, by participating and contributing to general cluster-wide research seminars and meetings of the research unit. Presence on campus is very important.
An important part of your assignment is the connection between your research project and education. As a doctoral assistant, you are 20% active as a teacher and thesis supervisor within the music education training programs.

LUCA School of Arts is een multidisciplinaire onderwijs- en onderzoeksomgeving waar creatief talent zich artistiek, uitvoerend en technisch kan ontplooien en ontwikkelen. In vier steden (Brussel, Genk, Gent en Leuven) bundelt LUCA de onderwijsexpertise van vijf gerenommeerde instituten (Sint-Lukas, Narafi, C-mine, Sint-Lucas en Lemmens). Het onderzoek binnen LUCA omvat het volledige spectrum van vraaggestuurd praktijkgericht onderzoek tot autonoom artistiek onderzoek. Het onderzoek wordt uitgebouwd in nauwe samenwerking met en ingebed in de Geassocieerde Faculteit Kunsten van de KU Leuven. Met meer dan 800 personeelsleden en 4.000 studenten is LUCA een creatieve hub voor meer dan 4.800 kunstenaars, theater- en filmmakers, designers, musici, fotografen, leraren en onderzoekers.
Opdracht
Voor de ondersteuning van twee innovatieve onderzoeksprojecten binnen de onderzoeksgroep Inter-Actions van Luca School of Arts, zijn wij op zoek naar een enthousiaste junior onderzoeker met een sterke achtergrond in design.
De onderzoeksprojecten, TransFormMaker en Recare About Shoes, richten zich op de rol van design als katalysator in de transitie naar een circulaire meubel- en modesector. Beide projecten zijn practice-based en worden uitgevoerd in samenwerking met een breed netwerk van toonaangevende stakeholders zoals Vlaio, Flanders DC, Stad Genk, Stad Antwerpen, Indera, Torfs, Cycleur Deluxe, Mister Minit, en Ambiorix.
